Perfectly Dry, photolithograph on southbank smooth paper, 42 x 59.4 cm
How do you reproduce the act of drawing itself? A digital scanner was used to capture the movement of my hand while drawing. An acetate sheet was placed on the scanner, onto which was drawn a single line following the scanner as it scanned. This process was repeated building a journey of lines. Simultaneously two images were created: the drawn line on the acetate (a surface image), and the live record of this act (as if viewed from bellow looking up, like looking up from the bottom of a pool to the surface above). The scans were developed into photolithographs, which enhance the murky smudges of my moving hand and trailing lines of ink.
